SPECIAL NOTICE: HELD OVER TO JUNE 30, 2009!
The Journey Continues at Hyde Park Village...
Through special arrangements with Kensington Palace, Catherine Walker, Diana's favorite dress designer, and generous sponsorship by North Star Bank and Hyde Park Village, the journey of the legacy of the dresses of the late Diana, Princess of Wales, continues, benefiting the Tampa Museum of Art, as
Dresses for Humanity II, January 24 to May 1, 2009.
Dresses for Humanity II at Hyde Park Village presents 17 fashion ensembles including the famed "Pink India Gown", created for the late Diana's 1992 India tour. The experience presents compassion and selfless service, and is a powerful message, resonating to young and old alike, with special emphasis on character building of youth.
This experience is the original curated museum exhibition and presents over a dozen outfits of the late Princess which have never before toured the United States, including many of the highly visible day suits from the late Diana's working wardrobe, which she wore during the last year of her life.
A Rich Journey...
Over the past decade, The People's Princess Charitable Foundation has worked diligently to use the collection of historic Royal costumes, once belonging to the late Diana, Princess of Wales, to bring cultural and educational value to the public while, at the same time, generating funds to assist the less fortunate. Our original journey,
Dresses for Humanity, was viewed by over 1,000,000 people in the United States, Canada, New Zealand, and Europe before the Royal dresses were put to rest when the dress collection was loaned to Kensington Palace for ten years. Since 2001 the dress collection of the late Princess has been on display at her former home, Kensington Palace. All proceeds generated from the approximate 300,000 people who visit the collection annually remain with the Historic Royal Palaces, a British-based charity. The dresses return to the Foundation permanently in 2010.
